Last TV Show I Watched: Doctor Who, Saturday nights on PBS. The Doctor and Rose travel far into the future to New Earth, where they find sinister goings-on at a hospital run by cat-women nuns. Yes! They're finally showing the second season of Doctor Who! We don't have cable, and the Doctor Who DVDs are horribly expensive, so the only real chance I have of watching the new Doctor Who show is on PBS. I've been waiting months--ever since they finished showing the first season of Doctor Who--for the second season to air. They've shown the first two episodes so far--and I'm loving it
.
Last Movie I Watched: Star Wars, Episode I: The Phantom Menace starring Liam Neeson, Ewan MacGregor, Natalie Portman, Jake Lloyd. I really do like the first movie of the new Star Wars trilogy. I wasn't that impressed with the second movie, and I hated the third, but I really liked Episode One--even more than the first of the original trilogy. I was so fed up with Revenge of the Sith that I would have given up on the new trilogy completely and pretend they didn't exist--except I love The Phantom Menace so much. I know a lot of people have fussed about it, but I loved it--and I thought Jar Jar Binks was great.
Publishing News: I researched the Penguin imprint Philomel the last time I did publishing work. I was suppose to still be looking at Mirrorstone, but their site wasn't working
. I'm still working on revising the second chapters of The Unusual Four and The Telekinetic Princess. Though, actually, I'm rewriting more than revising on the second chapter of TUF.
What I'm Reading: The Orphan Game. Sally Berg, her twin Emily, and their cousins Jenny and Jake feel their summer at the Jersey shore is ruined by the presence of their whining cousing Miranda, and when soft-hearted Sally befriends Miranda she causes a rift between herself and the other three. Eh, this is an okay book. It's another mid-grade novel (of course
) and I've read it quite a number of times before. Last time I read it I considered dumping it in my "to sell" bag, but decided I did still enjoy it. I still like it all right now, so I guess I won't dump it yet.
Quote of the Month: "Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read."--Groucho Marx
Last Year
I was watching--Real Life Wedding Crashers (on TV); Born Free (a movie)
I was writing--The Girl in Blue
