Sondra's Ghost 8/6/08

What I'm Reading: The Miserable Mill, Book the Fourth in a Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket. I'm about five chapters into this book. It's the first time I've read it and I'm enjoying it. I've liked all the books so far in this series, and I can't wait to get back to reading them. They're very funny.

Publishing News: I'm ready to print out everything I need to send my query for The Telekinetic Princess to Mirrorstone. Unfortunately, my printer's not ready--it needs ink. I've ordered a new cartridge, but it'll be a few days before it gets here. I hate waiting. In other news I'm still revising the third chapter of the Unusual Four and have whittled my list of publishers for that book down to ten.

Last TV Show I Watched: The Big Bang Theory, Monday nights on CBS. When Sheldon's twin sister comes for a visit, Leonard and the others fight over her. I really like this show--it's the only sitcom on now I watch. Sheldon is just hilarious and the scenes with his sister Missy were very funny. I love the end when he's insulted because his sister tells everyone he's a rocket scientist. This show is just awesome.

Last Movie I Watched: What a Girl Wants starring Amanda Bynes, Colin Firth, Kelly Preston. An American teenager (Amanda Bynes) travels to England to seek out the father she's never met (Firth)--who just happens to be an English Lord. This is a great movie. It's in the same girl power vein of The Princess Diaries, but I like it even more (though I do like the first Princess Diaries movie, too). What a Girl Wants is hilarious and heartwarming, with two romances--one between Amanda Bynes' character, Daphne, and a muscian she meets in England, and the other between her parents. I highly, highly recommend this movie.

What I'm Writing: Sondra's Ghost, a mid-grade novel about a twelve-year old girl named Sondra who moves to a new town and makes friends with the ghost of a fourteen-year old boy haunting the attic of her new house. So far I've just changed the title of the book from Ghost Tales to Sondra's Ghost, and revised the four sentence synopsis I wrote for it. Yeesh, I've planned to write this book for a long time, but I'm going to have to have a stronger mystery for it to work well. I've tried to think up a better mystery, but all I succeeded in doing was changing the title, and deciding to write it in first person instead of third.  *Sigh* I foresee a lot of headaches with this book.

Quote of the Month: "A thing of beauty is a joy forever;/ Its loveliness increases; it will never/ Pass into nothingness; but still will keep/ A bower quiet for us, and a sleep/ Full of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing."--John Keats

Last Year

I was reading--20,000 Leagues Under the Sea

I was writing--The Girl in Blue

I was watching--SeaQuest DSV (TV show on DVD) and The Little Mermaid (movie)
